Over the past few years, Bulgaria has become one of the most popular tourist countries among travelers. The country has gained popularity due to its clean beaches, a huge number of different health resorts and ski resorts.
Many people who plan their vacation in advance are interested in the question of which month to choose so as not to be disappointed in the country.
The hottest months are in the summer period. The tourist season begins in mid-May, however, it is worth remembering that, despite the air warmed up to +30 degrees, the water temperature rarely rises above +21 degrees.
Therefore, if you are planning a beach holiday on the seashore, then it is better to postpone the trip to June or July.
June pleases residents and guests of the country with stable weather without sudden changes – the air temperature fluctuates between + 26- + 28 degrees, the water also warms up to this temperature. At the same time, housing and food prices in June are much lower than in July. Precipitation is rare and in small amounts.
In early July, the thermometer shows 28-32 degrees Celsius, the sea warms up to + 26-28. The air is dry and there is almost no rain. By early August, the temperature drops slightly, but the water is still warm. An active tourist season begins in the country, prices double, and you need to book accommodation in advance.
From the end of August, the “velvet season” begins in Bulgaria. The sea, warmed up during the summer, maintains its temperature, but now the scorching sun is gone during the day. This is the most comfortable season for those who like to swim in the sea, but do not like the heat.
It is during this period that the highest prices are observed in tourist areas. By the end of September, the velvet season is on the decline, and in the first decade of December, the rainy season begins.
If a trip around the country includes not only a beach, but also a cultural holiday, then you should give preference to such months as April – June and September – the first half of October. The climate of these months is the mildest, there is practically no precipitation, as well as sultry heat. This means that the excursions will take place in the most comfortable conditions.
For those who are not interested in a summer beach holiday, but in active sports, it is recommended to turn their attention to the winter months and visit Bulgaria in January – February, riding on the snow-covered ski slopes.
