Yosemite Valley

Yosemite Valley is a beautiful place to visit. There are many things to do there, including hiking, biking, climbing and swimming. You can also see wildlife such as bears and deer in the park. Yosemite Valley has many waterfalls that you can view from different angles depending on where you are standing when looking at them. There are places where you can eat within Yosemite Valley as well or nearby so your options aren’t limited if hunger strikes while exploring!

Granite cliffs and domes

The granite cliffs and domes are one of the most recognizable features of Yosemite National Park. The granite cliffs and domes are a result of millions of years of erosion by water, ice, wind and gravity.

Wildlife

  • Bears: Yosemite is home to many black bears and grizzlies, so you should always be aware of your surroundings and not leave food or garbage out in the open.
  • Deer: You’ll see them everywhere throughout Yosemite, especially during early morning hours.
  • Elk: These massive animals are commonly found in meadows along Tioga Road (Highway 120) and Wawona Road (Highway 41).
  • Bighorn sheep: These creatures can be seen near Tuolumne Meadows or Glacier Point on Glacier Point Road (Highway 41). They’re also sometimes spotted near Bridalveil Falls during springtime mating season when males fight for dominance over females by ramming each other with their horns!

Smaller wildlife like chipmunks, squirrels, birds…you name it!

Wawona

Wawona is a small community located in the southern part of Yosemite National Park. It’s also home to several attractions, including the Wawona Hotel and Pioneer Yosemite History Center.

Pioneer Yosemite History Center

The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is another popular spot in Wawona for its grove of some 500 mature giant sequoia trees that are hundreds of years old. The Mariposa Grove Loop Trail gives visitors an opportunity to walk through this beautiful forest and see some ancient trees up close.

Another must-see when visiting Wawona is the Tunnel Tree, which was once used by Native Americans as shelter during their travels through the area but collapsed during heavy snowfall in 1969 (hence its name). You can still see where it used to stand now–the tree has been preserved using metal rods so visitors can make out its original shape! You can even walk inside this monument now too!

Glacier Point and Badger Pass

There are two places you can go to get a good view of Yosemite Valley: Glacier Point, which is on the south rim, and Badger Pass, which is on the east side.

The road between them is closed in winter but open during summer months.
