Battambang
Battambang is a city with a rich cultural heritage. It has been a popular tourist destination for years, and it’s easy to see why: the market here is enormous! You can find just about anything you want here, from fresh fruit to silk clothing. If you’re looking for something specific, be sure to ask around; someone will know where you can get it or who might have it in stock.
Battambang Museum houses many historical artifacts that tell the story of Cambodia’s past–from ancient times right up until today–and also features some interesting photographs taken by Australian photographer David Henshall during his travels through Battambang during World War II (1941-1945). The museum itself was once used as an army base by Lon Nol’s forces during their fight against Khmer Rouge insurgents led by Pol Pot during Cambodia’s civil war from 1970-1975. Today though? It serves as both entertainment venue and educational resource centre where visitors can learn more about what happened there while still enjoying themselves at the same time!
The Wat Phnom Temple is another popular attraction located nearby too.
Phnom Penh – the capital of Cambodia on the banks of the Tonle Sap river
Phnom Penh is the largest city and capital of Cambodia located on the banks of the Tonle Sap river. The city has a population of over 2 million people, making it one of Southeast Asia’s most populous cities.
The best way to get to Phnom Penh is by plane from Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), both flights take just under 2 hours to reach their destinations. Once you arrive at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok taking a taxi directly to your hotel will cost around $35 USD depending on how far away from downtown your hotel is located. If you want something cheaper then try catching a Grab Taxi which costs around $15 USD but beware as these are notorious for ripping tourists off especially when they’re not familiar with how much things should cost!
Airlines such as AirAsia also offer special deals where you can fly between Singapore & Kuala Lumpur which includes free transfers between airports including car rental in the Phnom Penh Airport so check out their website before booking anything else! Siem Reap is the gateway to Cambodia’s most famous monuments, Angkor Wat
Siem Reap is the gateway to Cambodia’s most famous monuments, Angkor Wat. While it’s possible to visit these temples without staying in Siem Reap, it’s much easier and cheaper if you’re here.
After visiting one or more of the temples, there are plenty of things to do:
- visit markets and shops;
- learn about Khmer culture;
- see elephants or tigers at animal sanctuaries;
- go on boat rides down Siem Reap River;
- relax at one of many spas around town (including those inside hotels).
You can also explore other parts of Cambodia from here–whether by renting a scooter or hiring a car driver for day trips–or venture further out into Southeast Asia with flights from Siem Reap International Airport (REP), which is about 30 km northeast from town center.
Sihanoukville
Sihanoukville features long white sand beaches with turquoise waters and tropical forests at the end of each beach. It is also one of the most popular destinations for tourists looking to relax on their vacation, and it has several resorts that offer all kinds of accommodation from luxury hotels to bungalows in the middle of nature.
The city was named after Cambodia’s former king Norodom Sihanouk who lived there until he was overthrown by his Prime Minister Lon Nol in 1970. The city is located on Cambodia’s south coast near Ream National Park which has some beautiful scenery including mangrove swamps, dense rainforests and mudflats where thousands of migratory birds stop during their journey south across Asia before heading back north again during winter months (November – February).
Kampot
Kampot is a city in Cambodia, located on the Kampot River. It has a rich history and is home to several colonial buildings dating back to the 19th century. The town is also known for its pepper plantations and pepper farms that produce some of the best black peppercorns in Asia.
Kampot was once an important trading port during French colonial times, but today it has become popular with tourists because of its natural attractions such as Bokor Hill Station which overlooks all of Kampot province and nearby islands such as Koh Russei (Cambodia’s largest island).
Kirirom National Resort
Kirirom National Resort is located in Ratanakiri province which covers highlands, forests, rivers and waterfalls. It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for an adventure trip with your family or friends. The resort has several activities such as mountain biking and hiking trails that will lead you through lush green jungles where you can see monkeys playing around as well as different species of birds singing their songs throughout the day.
